Reading pictures instead of words (aka heiroglyphs) – FUN! Huge triangular buildings (ok, technically pyramidical, but that’s a toughie for the young’ins) – FUN! Giant sphinxes – FUN!

And of course, the big one – Mummys: dead guys with their organs removed and wrapped in toilet paper (linen strips if you want to be a stickler) – SUPER FUN!

Since I’m SO not a stickler, it’s straight-up toilet paper over here, yo!

As my 5 year old puts it: “It’s so soft and fun!” (Charmin paid her for that, btw. JK)

So, here’s the lesson in kid speak:

Talk about mummies –  this is a great companion activity for The Magic Treehouse book Mummies in the Morning: Mary Pope Osborne and wrap them in toilet paper. Then get your camera and let ‘em loose. Woot, woot!

If I have to play cars one more time, I’m gonna scream. That might scare my 5 year old a bit, so I have to have a handy alternative.

Notice I said “handy”.

I have more “things to do with preschoolers” books than I can fit on my Sensational Beginnings canvas bookcase… But – I love how each activity starts out with something like, oh, this: “Get 5 clothespins, an empty cardboard egg carton and a salad spinner…” I have, let’s see here, right – not ONE thing on that list!

 So I’m stuck playing cars again.

Then I had it – the Aha! moment. (Came to me in the bathroom. Why do we moms always hang out in there? Duh.)

Moms need a bunch o’ ideas for fun stuff (that means fun for both you AND your kiddo) that don’t require stuff we don’t have!

So, welcome, and stay a while… we’ll play fun stuff together!
